When applied properly with marine-grade gel coat — the same material used on brand-new fiberglass pools — a professional refinish can last 15 years or more. Painted pools, by contrast, typically need to be redone every 2–5 years.
Is gel coat better than paint for fiberglass pools?
Yes. Gel coat is the factory-original finish on fiberglass pools. It’s thicker, more chemical-resistant, UV-stable, and far more durable than any epoxy, acrylic, or rubber-based pool paint. At Fiberglass Pool Rx, we never paint pools — we gel coat them.
